Blog

Hi folks,

Just to let you know that unfortuantly i've no space left for commissions this year.  I hope to have some new prints for sale throughout December though, if you were looking for a present for a racing fan!

I've been busy at work lately and painting has really taken a back seat again, but here's a nice little painting of one herd member at my day job.  I've got a limited edition amount of 5 very high quality prints of this available (20"x16") from the start of November.  They are of a good size to find frames and mounts for at a lower price than professionally framed.  The cost of these is £35 + p&p.  Please visit my shop for more info, or email info@emilyrussellart.com

I'm back painting at last!

After months of no painting, I'm back in the zone.  Lots to get finished, including 3 paintings of Kauto Star.  Then I'm on to some new projects.

Here's one in progress I've been working on today:

JUNIOR DELIVERED

JUNIOR painting done and delivered!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to one and all!

I'm hoping 2011 is going to be a very busy, yet hopefully successful year for me.  Limited Edition prints will be available to buy from February, as well as new original paintings.  I plan to exhibit a lot more this year and will be showing work at race meetings throughout the year.  Please sign up to my mailing list on the contact page to keep up to date with where i'll be and what i'm up to.  You can also follow me on twitter @eachwayemily , or find me on facebook.

Also a quick congratulations to AP McCoy on becoming Sports Personailty of the Year.  What a fantastic boost to racing.  I also worked my way on to the front page of the Racing Post website over Christmas for my encouraging tweets for people to vote for McCoy!

Junior.

I have at long last managed to finish the commission of Junior.  I'll be completely honest, I have found this painting quite a difficult one for some reason and have had to use the little and often approach with it, but I am now very very satified and pleased with it.   It's definitely one of my favourites I have painted to date.  It will be winging it's way to it's new owner, and hopefully a nice big wall early next week.

New ventures coming soon as I have some new ideas for racing art work that i'm going to be playing around with.  I'm also doing a painting for myself of Denman who ran such a brave race under top weight at Newbury in the Hennessey last week.  I will have to get better at keeping you all up to date with what I'm up to!

I'm not liking the lack of racing in the big freeze.  Sad face.  No Tinglecreek today.  Sad face.

Back on form.

Hello.  I've just cleared my camera and had some studio shots from the last few weeks.
This is a typical example of one of my paintings in it's early stages.  I love them when they're at this point, but with commissions I find myself needing to carry on to make sure I capture the character of the horse i've been asked to paint.  This was/is Junior after a couple of hours painting.

Fini!

Commission painting of Reve De Sivola is done.  Yay!

Latest Work.

Busy times with visiting relatives and aversion to work due to the sun shining, but my latest work is coming along good.  It's a commission piece of Reve De Sivola (Future Cheltenham Gold Cup winner?), and here it is, very close to completion....

Busy busy!

Currently madly busy with commissions and the cows, but should have some new work for you to have a peak at very soon!  Also designing new tattoos to cover old tattoos.  Pictures to follow!
Keeping it brief!  Sorry!

Monet's Garden painting is now available to buy in the shop.  A snip at £180.  Original painting with no prints made.

Aintree build up.

Monet's Garden canvas is completed and up in the gallery.  I've also painted one of Tidal Bay - also in the online gallery.  This looks rather nice in 'real life', but hasn't translated through the camera very impressively.  New painting on it's way of my old favourite, Ballycassidy.

I'm looking forward to the Grand National meeting this week.  I've always thought Irish Raptor to be a National horse, but we shall see!  Madison Du Berlais is lugging top weight... don't forget the original painting of him 'Take Off' is for sale!

Hope everyone had an easter as good as mine!  Have a good Aintree everyone.

Hectic time

Things are settling down after a hectic time moving house, the arrival of new puppy, Sukie, and milking cows far too much!  Well... i have to pay the bills somehow!  It's the nervous and exciting, butterflies in belly build up to the Cheltenham Festival this week and it's the first year since 2005 I won't be there :( .  Painting wise, I've almost completed a canvas of Monet's Garden.  It was so lovely and very emotional seeing him win the Ascot Chase again.  It always feels good painting a horse after a good victory, it sparks lots of passion into my work.

Photos to come soon!  Enjoy the Festival everyone!  I can't wait to hear that roar as the tape goes up for the Supreme Novices.  Spine tingling.
